Responsibilities of Elected Officers

President - Sets agendas, conducts meetings, coordinates all activities and oversees committees.

Vice President - Organizes member art exhibitions, provides refreshments for openings, becomes President the following term.

Treasurer - Collects dues and workshop feess, records memberhips, pays expenses.

Secretary - Records minutes of each board meeting and supplies copies to board members.


Responsibilities of Appointed Positions

Web Master - Maintains PBCATA web page, including announcements of scheduled workshops and events, publishes committee reports, current announcements, scholarship form, membership applications, and other notices of interest to members.

Workshop Chair -
Coordinates with board to arrange for workshop presenters/locations, authors workshop schedule/sign-up form, coordinates with the district for in-service points and provides copy of schedule/sign-up form to web master to publish on website. Coordinates with the presenter to order and reimburse for all materials. The chair is also responsible for a representative of the workshop committee being present at every workshop and that the representative is responsible for morning refreshments.

Scholarship Chair - Coordinates with board to arrange for scholarships, authors scholarship form and e-mails it to all teachers, provides copy of form to web master to publish on website.

South Florida Fair Coordinator - Consults with SFF to arrange for PBCATA student exhibition, oversees hanging and removal of art, arranges for judges, reports outcomes.



Board member duties as described in our constitution


President: It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all business meetings of the Association, to prepare the agenda for the business meetings, and approve expenditures.

Vice-President: It shall be the duty of the First Vice-President to preside at meetings in the absence of the President, assume the duties of the President in the event of a vacancy in that office, as well as assume duties as directed by the President. In addition, the First Vice-President shall take the office of President at the end of the existing term.

Secretary: It shall be the duty of the Recording Secretary to keep the minutes of each business meeting, and present minutes for approval at each succeeding meeting.

Treasurer: It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to issue receipts of dues, to furnish a list of names and addresses of paid members to the executive board, to pay all bills authorized and approved for payment by the President, to submit bills not specifically authorized under the budget to the President for approval before payment, and to make regular reports of the state of the treasury to the President.

OUR MISSION

It is the mission of the Palm Beach County Art Teachers Association to support art education and to promote art as a means of communication for each individual. It is the right of each individual to develop his own creativity and aesthetic potential. It is our purpose to strengthen the position of art education in Palm Beach County. We support programs in art which meet the needs, interests and abilities of each individual student. We will promote and maintain the highest quality of art education in Palm Beach County
